Traceroute from our site to your site

Traceroute from best.com/~mentorms to An unidentified host

This program traces the network route between your host and our host by showing the addresses of each intervening host. The round trip time is reported for three probes. The route is traced by following the route that a packet travels from your site to our site. Each intervening host acknowledges that it has received the test packet and that host will be printed on the route. The three numbers beside each host indicates (1) how long it took in milliseconds for the packet to reach the server, (2) the acknowledgement time, and (3) the time it took to send the packet back.

Failures to receive a reply within three seconds are shown with an asterisks ( * ). Tracings may consume a great deal of time depending on how congested a server link (path) is, the speed of the line to the host, and the congestion on the host itself. Normally a result should be presented immediately or within 30 seconds if the route is congested. If it takes longer, you can wait or you can abort the process by hitting your stop button. This report is useful in identifying problems associated with accessing our host that are external to it and have nothing to do with the performance of our server. Please note that if you are using a caching proxy server that the route traced will be to the caching server and not to your machine.

The performance of our server is measured by another program that shows the average load factor on the server in a report with current access statistics.
