Mamma.com is a Smart Meta Search Engine. When the user enters a query, Mamma.com performs the following tasks behind the scenes. It analyzes the user's query and properly formats the words and syntax for each of the 10 individual search engines it probes. Then it simultaneously queries the top search engines on the Web including Yahoo!, Excite, AltaVista, Lycos, Infoseek and others. Mamma.com creates a virtual database of the search results and removes duplicate entries from the various Search Engines. Mamma.com compiles and formats all the results simultaneously while filtering out the vast majority of erroneous results. Mamma.com typically returns between 10 and 100 results for a given search term providing the user with a comprehensive snapshot of the topic they are searching for.
